LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Water Polo head coach Ellen Howe announced today the signing of Monica Chaviano (Miami, Fla/Gulliver Prep). Chaviano is the lone water polo player to join the program after signing her National Letter of Intent during the early signing period and is the first member of the Class of 2012.

"We are very excited to have Monica joining our program next year," remarked Howe. "She is a quick, feisty player and will make an immediate impact for our program."

An attacker, Chaviano was named to the Miami Herald All-Dade First Team this spring following a sensational junior campaign. At Gulliver Prep this spring, she tallied 69 goals and 33 assists, while adding 34 steals.

"Monica has played for the premier club out of Florida (Florida Gulf Coast) and has great coaching," added Howe. "She is well prepared for the challenges of Division I Water Polo."
