Saints Top Villanova, Defending MAAC Champion Wagner in Fall Games
Nov. 1, 2007
Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena Water Polo team defeated Villanova and Wagner and dropped a hard fought decision to a highly touted Bucknell squad over the weekend in Pennsylvania. Freshman Alex Vespremi (San Diego, CA/La Jolla) led the Saints attack posting seven goals over the three game stretch. In the first game against Bucknell, the Bison were able to stave off the Saints by a final of 10-2. Vespremi tallied both goals for the Saints, while fellow freshmen Jackie Crosby (Poway, CA/Rancho Bernardo) and Devan Ragg (Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor Pioneer) added assists. The Saints however would storm back in their second affair, knocking off MAAC rival Villanova 10-6 in a tightly contested battle. Vespremi again was impressive, notching five of the Saints ten goals, while Crosby and Ragg each contributed a pair of tallies. Senior goalie Kaedy Graves (Lake Worth Fla./Lake Worth Community) contributed ten saves to the effort. The Green and Gold forged a winning record for the day by topping MAAC foe Wagner 8-3 in the third game. Crosby led the Saints strong showing with four goals as Siena had little trouble with the defending conference champions. The Saints will return to action with an exhibition game on February 10th against Adirondack WPF at the Siena Swim Center. Siena opens 2007-08 regular season play on February 16th at the Princeton Invitational.
