Howe begins her second season overall and first full season as the Siena water polo head coach in 2008. Howe enters the season with a 1-9 career record after being elevated to the head coaching position on April 5, 2007. Howe previously served for two seasons as the team's assistant coach. During her assistant coaching tenure, Howe helped guide the Saints through a new era for the program which saw the team compete against three ranked teams and amass the deepest schedule in school history. Prior to her appointment as head coach, Howe served as an integral part to the Saints 2007 record setting team which posted the most successful start in program history at 11-5. Prior to her stint in Loudonville, Howe embarked on her coaching career in 2003 while working with age group athletes through the Greater Philly Water Polo Club. In 2004 she served as the head coach at Friends Central High School in Philadelphia and has also coached at several water polo camps across the country. Howe also established a brilliant water polo playing career of her own both in high school and collegiately at Villanova. In high school, she started in water polo through her club team at Scripps Ranch in her hometown of San Diego, Calif. where she was named as a San Diego CIF selection as a senior. She also played for the San Diego Shores club team and was a member of the Junior Olympic 18 & Under winning team in 2001. During her playing career at Villanova, Howe received four varsity letters and was named to the All-MAAC team during each of her four seasons. She received two degrees as an undergraduate and was named to the conference's All-Academic team three out of four years. She was her team's co-MVP during the 2004 and 2005 seasons and graduated from Villanova as the all-time assists leader and with the 2nd highest point total in school history (goals and assists). In addition to her head coaching duties, Howe also manages the Siena Athletic Department's Life Skills Program which helps to enhance the overall experience of being a Siena Student-Athlete by providing skills applicable to life beyond college. Howe makes her home in nearby Green Island and currently attends graduate school at Sage College studying Urban Education. |
