Kimberly Zeferino begins the second season of her second stint on the Siena staff after playing for Pierre at Mercy College.

The former Siena assistant returned to Loudonville last season a four-year hiatus from coaching and promptly helped the Saints return to the NCAA Tournament.

"With Kimberly back, I foresee continued success for our program," Pierre said. "She's an individual who always wants to win."

Zeferino was an assistant under Pierre during his inaugural 2003 season after completing a standout career under his tutelage as an undergraduate at Mercy College.

She has enjoyed success on the playing court throughout her volleyball career in New York State.

In high school, she was selected to the All-New York State Team and helped her region capture the bronze medal in the 1998 Empire State Games. She captained her volleyball team at Mitchell College before transferring to Mercy where she enjoyed even greater success. At Mercy, Zeferino was a major factor behind the 2001 North East Championship team which advanced to the NCAA "Elite Eight."

Pierre will call on Zeferino to assist in all facets of the program and her knowledge of the defensive aspect of the game will be most useful in practices.

Zeferino and her husband Mauricio have a daughter Selena who was born in the fall of 2006.
