Latham's Sarah Mayer earned her third straight MAAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor this afternoon after an impressive week where she posted three victories at top singles. Mayer and the Saints will be competing in the MAAC Championships this weekend at the USTA Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. She is a leading candidate to take home her second MAAC Player of the Year honor (2006).

Mayer began the week with a convincing 6-0 and 6-3 win over defending MAAC Player of the Year Christine Ong in the team's match with archrival Marist. Later in the week, she knocked off one of the MAAC's other top players, posting a 6-2 and 7-6 win over Raquel Solis of Niagara. In between, she earned a 6-2 and 7-5 win at #1 singles over Darcy Demers in a regional match with Sacred Heart.

Mayer and the Saints are taking on Rider this afternoon in Lawrenceville, N.J.
