Betsy Brookins Recognized as Outstanding Woman in Sports

Delmar resident, Betsy Brookins was honored during the Siena - Canisus women's basketball game Friday night as an Outstanding Collegiate Sportswoman for her devotion to her sport and high achievement.

Brookins a member of the Siena Women's Tennis Team, has compiled a 14-4 record over the past 2 seasons and has helped the Saints rise to first place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Siena junior, daughter of Gil and Marlene Brookins is a biology major with a 3.74 GPA and has recently been admitted, early decision, to SUNY Upstate Medical Center where she will pursue a medical degree upon graduation from Siena.

A graduate of Bethlehem High School High School, Betsy has shared her love of tennis with local youngsters as an instructor, camp counselor and team tennis captain. At Siena, she serves as a Resident Assistant in the Townhouses and spent last summer working with the biology faculty doing research.
