Old Chatham Tennis Club Doubles Round Robin Benefits Siena College Women's Tennis
Feb. 19, 2003 A record nine members participated in the Second Annual Old Chatham Tennis Club Women's Doubles Pro-Am Round Robin Sunday afternoon. The event raised over $400 for the Siena College Women's Tennis Team Travel Fund. The club members bid for the opportunity to choose which Siena players would be their partners for the ocassion with the highest bidder getting first choice. The money raised will be used to help defray the cost of the team's upcoming spring training trip to Florida. Club member Terry Irish and her partner, Siena freshman Rali Hristova finished in the top spot with a 6-1 record. Their only loss came to the team of club manager Jill Gerrain and Siena's Megan Slenlamp. Other club members taking part included Anne Trowbridge, Joyce Eggelston, Sharon Frering, Hillary Leff, Julie Appel, Barbara Nagler and Joan Bloomberg. "The team and I would like to thank Jill and club pro, Jay Penney for their help in organizing this event and getting such a large turnout," Siena Head Coach, Jeff Bloomberg said. "We would like to thank the club owners for their generous contribution and the use of their facility as well. Thanks also to my wife Joan for the great salad she made to go along with the pizza and soft drinks . Everyone's support is much appreciated."
