Old Chatham Tennis Supports Siena College Women's Tennis
Feb. 7, 2002 The First Annual Old Chatham Tennis Club Women's Double Round Robin to benefit the Women's Tennis Program at Siena College was held Saturday night, February 2nd at the club on Counbty Route 13 just outside Chatham Center. The event, which raised over $200 for the Siena program was attended by 6 members of the club and 11 women from the Siena Women's Tennis Team. Club manager, Jill Gerain arranged for the club to donate the court time as well as make a financial contribution to the team. Participating club members bid for the opportunity to choose which Siena players would be their partners in the doubles round robin with the highest bidder getting first choice. Pizza and soft drinks were available during the evening and prizes and Certificates of Participation were awarded the club members. "It was a lot of fun to meet the players and get to play with them," commented club member Becky McBride who teamed with Siena's Eileen Gallocher and Brooke Fisher. "I wish we could have played more." "I wanted to do more to support the event," Jill Gerrain said, but I was tied up working on the new hard-tru surface we just put down on our third court. I told Siena Coach Jeff Bloomberg that I would help to make the upcoming mixed doubles round robin on February 16th even more successful as well as help organize another fund raiser for he middle of March." The siena Women's Tennis Program is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and plays its home matches on the Siena College campus located in Loudonville, NY.
