Travis Boyd Joins Women's Tennis Staff

Feb. 6, 2008

Women's tennis head coach Tim O'Brien announced that Travis Boyd has joined the team as assistant coach. Boyd is one of the best players to ever come out of Section II.

Boyd was the first Section II player to capture the state title as a junior at Columbia High School in 1989. He joined the ATP tour the next year, eventually reaching a ranking of 959 in 1994.

Besides playing in satellite tournaments, Boyd was the hitting partner for some of the best WTA players during that time.

"We are extremely fortunate to have Travis join our program", O'Brien said. "He has the ability to push our players to a higher level."

The Siena women begin their spring schedule February 23 at Colgate.

Travis is married to Megan Malone Boyd of Wynantskill and lives in Stephentown, N.Y. where he owns "The Majestic Whitetail" taxidermy shop.
