Mayer and Sandhu Suffer Setbacks in ITA Regionals

Oct. 26, 2008

Sarah Mayer and Jasleen Sandhu were defeated 8-6 in doubles play at the ITA East Regionals Sunday in Philadelphia. Mayer and Sandhu lost to Samantha Rosekrans and Laura Peterzan of Harvard. In singles play, Mayer lost in three sets to Virginia Tech's Holly Johnson, 4-6, 6-3 and 6-3.

"Though we lost both matches we were very happy with the level of play," head coach Tim O'Brien said. "In the singles competition both players fought hard in a well played match that lastest over two hours. In the doubles, the lead changed five times before Harvard eventually held to win the match. Sara Mayer closes out her senior year at the ITA's knowing that she did a specatular job representing Siena College over the past four years. Jasleen Sandhu was more than solid in her initial ITA outing. It was definitely worth the trip to Philadelphia"
