Sept. 22, 2001

LOUDONVILLE, NY --The Siena women's tennis team opened its 2001 - 2002 campaign with an 8-0 route of Robert Morris College. The Saints were led by the quality singles play of Andrea Disponzio (Farmingdale/Farmingdale, NY) and Betsy Brookins (Bethlehem/Delmar, NY) who, between them, lost only 1 game.

The "Silent Assassin", as Disponzio is known, picked up where she left off last year, dropping only 1 game as she rolled over the Colonials' Tracy Paris 6-1, 6-0 at #2 singles. Brookins, who turned 19 today, gave herself a wonderful birthday present with a masterful 6-0, 6-0 win over Danika Tremba at #3.

"Betsy showed great maturity today," Siena Coach, Jeff Bloomberg said. "She was poised and focused. She never let her opponent in the match. Her unforced errors were few and far between. It was a great birthday present for her."

The Siena Women are on the road tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. against Rider.
