UAlbany Knocks Off Women's Tennis Despite Mayer's 11th Straight Win

April 16, 2008

Final Stats

Junior Sarah Mayer defeated Aimee Kern 6-2 and 6-1 at top singles for her 11th straight victory, but UAlbany took the remaining matches in a 6-1 win at Siena Wednesday afternoon. Senior Karina Davis suffered a hard fought 6-7(3), 6-3 and 10-4 loss at #2 singles.

"I was really proud of the team's effort and Karina in particular," head coach Tim O'Brien said. "She has put it all on the line this spring, and is finishing off a tremendous career."

It was the fifth three set match for Davis this spring. The Saints earned the #5 seed in this weekend's MAAC championships. They will play fourth seeded Saint Peter's Friday.
