Davis Honored, Mayer Breaks Record, but Women Suffer Loss on Senior Day

March 30, 2008

Final Stats

Fairfield defeated Siena 5-2 in a women's tennis match Saturday night at the Tri City Raquette Club in Latham. Karina Davis was honored prior to the match in a special Senior Day ceremony and junior Sarah Mayer became the all-time winningest women's tennis player in school history.

"Though we lost the match 5-2 there we many positives to take away," head coach Tim O'Brien said. "We celebrated Senior Day for Karina. She is a model for what we hope to find in our student athletes."

By winning her #1 singles match, Sarah Mayer passed her sister for most singles victories for a Siena student-athlete.

Lauren Moy and Sarah Mayer returned to their winning ways at top doubles with an 8-4 win. Jessica Asselin produced a straight set victory against Fairfield's Michaela Cerrone by fighting back from a 6-1 deficit in the tiebreaker at #4 singles.
