Men and Women Fall in Tennis at Niagara

View photo gallery from trip to Niagara Falls Siena lost men's and women's MAAC tennis matches at Niagara Saturday. The men were blanked 7-0 while the women suffered a 5-2 defeat. "I was pleased that we were able to pull out two very close doubles matches to gain the initial point of the match," head women's coach Tim O'Brien said. Senior standout Sarah Mayer won 6-3 and 6-2 at top singles and teamed with Danielle Crill for an 8-6 win in doubles play. Jasleen Sandhu and Nicole Ross won 8-6 at second doubles to help the Saints claim the doubles point. Niagara won singles matches 2-6 in straight sets. The Purple Eagles (7-9, 5-0 MAAC) remained undefeated in MAAC play. The Niagara men's team improved to 4-9 and 3-1 in the MAAC with their win. Niagara swept the double matches winning 8-2, 8-2 and 8-5. Only Siena senior Nick Rutherford took a set, falling 6-2, 3-6 and 6-3 at top singles. Niagara University 7, Siena 0 (Men's)
