Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena College women's swimming team won its first meet of the 2000-01 season today with a 164-128 win over Niagara University.

The Saints held a 164-95 lead after 14 of the meets 16 events, but swam the last two events as exhibitions, giving Niagara 33 points over the last two events. The Saints' Kelly Pangburn (West Seneca, N.Y.) posted two first place finishes in Siena's win. Her first came in the 1000 freestyle, where she turned in a time of 10:42.44 to finish 36 seconds ahead of the next closest finisher. Pangburn went on to earn a first place finish later in the meet in the 500 freestyle. Her time of 5:15.25 once again dominated the field, as she finished eight seconds ahead of the next closest swimmer. Also swimming well for the Saints was Martha Kroll (Oxford, Conn.) who finished first in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Kroll posted a time of 24.98 in the 50 freestyle, and 54.77 in the 100. In addition to swimming individually, Kroll anchored Siena's 400 Medley Relay which placed first with a time of 4:10.06.

The Saints will next be in action on October 28 at 2:00 p.m. as they host the University of Buffalo and Marist College.
