Saints Place Two on MAAC All-Academic Women's Swimming Ledger

Feb. 20, 2004

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference released its 2004 Women's Swimming All-Academic Team Thursday prior to the conference championships in Baltimore. Junior Christine Hunter and sophomore Dana Golino represented Siena College.

Hunter carries a 3.72 grade point average in accounting, while serving as one of the team's most versatile swimmers. In addition to anchoring the 400 freestyle relay team, she has also seen time in the water performing both back stroke and in the individual medley.

Golino is one of the up-and-coming stars of the swim program, having already established herself as one of the top butterfliers in the MAAC. She holds a 3.25 grade point average as an undecided major.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution, be a significant starter or reserve and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Loyola College led all schools with 10 members named to the team. Manhattan College had eight athletes named to the team, while Marist College had seven student-athletes selected. Canisius College and Rider University had six athletes apiece named to the team, and Iona College added five athletes. Fairfield University, Niagara University and Saint Peter's College all had three members named to the team, and Siena College rounded out the team with two athletes.
