Siena Swimming and Diving Places Five on MAAC All-Academic Team

Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's swimming and diving team placed five student athletes on the MAAC All-Academic Team as announced this morning by conference headquarters in Edison, N.J. Senior Megan Dobbins, juniors Jacky Busching, Jeanine McCann and Rachel McShane and sophomore Allison O'Keefe comprised the Siena award winners. A senior captain, Dobbins posted a 3.49 cumulative GPA as an American Studies major. Busching, who just walked on to the diving team this fall, led the Siena divers in overall wins while also posting a stellar 3.31 GPA as a mathematics major. A native of Monroe, Conn. McCann posted a 3.27 GPA with a concentration in English. McShane meanwhile tallied the highest GPA on the team at 3.56 as a health major. Finally O'Keefe, a sophomore accounting major from Southington, Conn. had a 3.27 GPA. All five helped the Saints both in the pool while also excelling in the classroom. In competition, they all played major roles in leading the program to one of its best seasons in team history, posting a 9-4 overall record including a 5-1 ledger in MAAC play. The Green and Gold return to the pool later today in Baltimore, Md. for the first day of the 2008 MAAC Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by Loyola College. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
