Junior Kelly Pangburn defended her MAAC Championship in the 500-yard free style with a time of 5:05.21 to pace the Siena women's swimming team's surprising fourth place finish after day one of the conference championships in Baltimore.

Marist leads the way with 235 points, followed by host Loyola with 193 points. Defending 2001 champion Rider is in third with 170 points, followed by Siena (125), Fairfield (114), Niagara (81), Saint Peter's (79), Iona (65), Canisius (44), and Manhattan (36).

Friday marks day two of the three day championships.
