Softball Splits Two Games in Florida

March 15, 2008

Final Stats

The Siena softball team split two games Saturday in the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. The Saints defeated Robert Morris 5-2 in the first game and lost to Yale 22-4 in the second game.

Jennifer Granato went 3-for-3 in the first game to pace Siena's offense. The Saints rallied from an early 2-0 deficit, scoring five times in the sixth to claim victory.

Courtney Brinkman and Courtney Mahan each had RBI singles in the sixth and Jamie Peila drove in a run with a fielder's choice ground out. Lauren Weingart went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Piela also picked up the complete game win in the circle. She pitched seven innings, allowing just two runs and six hits while striking out three.

In the nightcap, Yale exploded for 22 runs - all earned - in an 18-run rout. Lindsey Hoyt had a monster home run for the Saints who pounded out eight hits in the set back.

The team will return to action Monday in the Rebel Spring Games against Fairleigh Dickinson and Hartford.
