Siena lost their season opener to Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. this afternoon. The Saints were defeated 9-1 in five innings.

Campbell (9-4) got on the board first with a three-run home run in the third inning from Karlie Love, her eighth of the season. Siena (0-1) answered back with a run in the top of the fourth but the Camels came right back, scoring three runs in the fourth, chasing Saints' pitcher Jamie Piela.

Junior Lauren Weingart drove in Siena's lone run with a two-out double in the top of the fourth. Senior Jenny McNulty went 2-for-2 and freshmen Lindsey McKeever and Alyssa Sceppaguercio each recorded a hit in their first career at-bats.

Siena returns to action tomorrow vs. North Carolina State at 6 p.m.
