Cara Riley and Ashleigh Barone Earn MAAC Player of the Week Honors

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Sophomore Cara Riley won MAAC Offensive Player of the Week and freshman Ashleigh Barone was named MAAC Rookie of the Week as announced by the league earlier today. Riley and Barone helped the Saints win the Governor's Cup in Albany this weekend. Riley scored both goals in a 2-2 tie against Sacred Heart and assisted on the game winner against Army in the 90th minute to defeat the Black Knights 3-2. One of her goals against Sacred Heart was a 30-yard blast off a free kick. Her game winning assist against Army was a through ball that sent Barone on a breakaway in the last minute of play. Riley was named to the All-Tournament Team with her five points. Barone scored two goals and an assist in Siena's 3-2 win over Army. She scored the game winner in the 90th minute, and won Offensive MVP for the Governor's Cup. Barone leads the league in goals (8), points (19), and game-winning goals (4) in six games played. Siena won the Governor's Cup in a tie breaker over Sacred Heart, outscoring them 5-3 during the tournament. Siena returns to action Wednesday at Holy Cross at 7 p.m.
