Nov. 21, 2007
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena College head women's lacrosse coach Jake McHerron announced the commitment of five student-athletes this afternoon after receiving National Letters of Intent during the NCAA Early Signing Period. Kristin Concordia, Lauren Corso, Amanda Corso, Deirdre McQuillan and Lauren Tita confirmed their decision to attend Siena beginning next fall. "We are very excited to welcome these five student-athletes to the Siena women's lacrosse family," explained McHerron. "I am confident they will help propel our program to the next level, and compete for a MAAC Championship." Concordia, a 5'6" goalkeeper from Webster Thomas High School, helped lead her team to a New York State Section V Class AA and Western Regional Championship in 2006. Concordia started in each of her three seasons at Webster Thomas. During the team's memorable championship run, she notched 152 saves and posted an 82% clear success rate. She is a three time academic honor roll selection, and participates in her school's Natural Helper organization. Lauren and Amanda Corso, both 5'2" defenders from West Genesee, led the Lady Wildcats defensive efforts last season as they posted a perfect 24-0 overall record earning the New York State Class A Championship. These speedy and skilled defenders helped elevate the West Genesee women's lacrosse program to rank among the top teams in Section III and in the state. McQuillan, a 5'6" attacker from East Meadow, N.Y., brings explosive speed and crafty stick skills to the field. She is a three year varsity letterwinner at Holy Trinity High School. Over her first two seasons with the program, she posted 35 goals and 15 assists. McQuillan was the recipient of the Coach's Award at the conclusion of her sophomore year after starting every game for Holy Trinity and finishing third on the team in scoring. Tita, a 5'3" midfielder from Hempstead, N.Y., is a three sport letterwinner at Sacred Heart Academy. She has great speed and an uncanny ability to create scoring opportunities for her teammates. Tita also lettered in soccer and indoor track during her tenure at Sacred Heart. She is a member of the prestigious Eastern New York Olympic Development Program (ODP), as well as the Super Y League National ODP.
