Women's Lacrosse Nabs Captains for 2005-06 Season
May 17, 2005 LOUDONVILLE, NY-Siena women's lacrosse coach Jake McHerron announced on Tuesday that four players have been named team captains for the 2006 season. The 20-player squad will be captained by juniors, Christina Pampalone (East Northport, NY) Michelle Eide (Pearl River, NY), Sarah Elliot (Shoreview, MN) and Leah Ciaccio (Skaneateles, NY). Pampalone scored a team and career best 50 goals and 60 points from the midfield in 2005. In two games she set school records with seven goals in a single game (4/10/05 Fairfield and 4/23/05 Niagara). Pampalone netted a league best five game winning goals. Eide, the 2005 Preseason Player of the Year, was a starter at the attack wing position. Eide finished the 2005 campaign after dishing out a team best 13 assists and second with 37 goals. The 2004 Rookie of the Year was the only player who scored a point in all 18 games played while winning 27draw controls. Elliot was a key contributor in 2005 as the top defense specialist. She set career highs for groundballs (62) and caused turnovers (39) - a league best, playing in 18 games. Ciaccio was second on the team in groundballs (53) last season. Despite starting every game, Ciaccio best game came against Binghamton (March 17) where she played a perfect game, scoring 1-of-1 for one point. Pampalone, Eide and Elliot were also named to the All-MAAC First Team and All Tournament Team, along with teammate Amy Schoonmaker. The quartet will look to build on a solid season which they closed out as regular season co-champions with an 11-7 overall and 6-1 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference record.
