Siena Women's Lacrosse Has Three Honored by the MAAC

April 28, 2005

EDISON, N.J.--The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced its postseason women's lacrosse awards late Thursday evening, and three Siena players were honored, sophomores Sarah Elliot (Shoreview, MN), Michelle Eide (Pearl River, NY) and Christina Pampalone (East Northport, NY/Commack HS) were named to the All MAAC First Team.

Elliot led the team with 60 groundballs and 36 caused turnovers. The defensive specialist ranks first in the league in both categories.

Selected pre-season offensive player of the year, Eide finished the regular season second on the team with 35 goals and first in assists with 13. Last season, Eide was named the leagues Rookie of the Year.

Pampalone headlines the MAAC in three statistical categories including game winning goals (0.43), goals per game (3.87), free position goals per game (1.43) and second with points per game (4.29), the recently named offensive player of the week ended the regular season with 45 goals and 10 assists. The explosive midfielder set a school record with seven goals in a single game twice (4/10/05 Fairfield and 4/23/05 Niagara).

Headlining the All MAAC first team is Le Moyne College's Elizabeth Hewitt was honored has the Offensive Player of the Year, while Canisius' Alana Chan and Niagara's Miko Daluisio were selected Co-Defensive Players of the Year by the league's head coaches. Canisius' Scott Teeter was selected the 2005 Anaconda Sports Coach of the Year after guiding the Griffs to their best season in program history and their first winning season.

The Saints enter the championship on a season-high, three-game winning streak. The tournament begins tomorrow at 4p.m., when the Lady Jaspers (7-7, 6-1 MAAC) take on fourth-seeded Marist (5-9, 4-3 MAAC). The second-seeded Saints (10-6, 6-1 MAAC) will face third-seeded LeMoyne (10-5, 5-2 MAAC) approximately 45 minutes after the completion of the first semifinal game.
