Women's Lacrosse Picked Fifth in MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

Feb. 7, 2008

Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's lacrosse team was picked to finish tied for fifth according to the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll announced today by league officials. The Saints received 24 points and were joined for the fifth place spot by Manhattan College. Junior quad-captain Lindsey Rosecrans was the lone Saint named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team.

2007 MAAC Runner-Up Marist was the coaches' pick to win the league this season, with Canisius chosen to finish second.

Rosecrans, a local product from Niskayuna High School, started all 14 games for the Saints last season. She finished her second season at Siena as the Saints top scoring threat, posting 31 goals and 11 assists for 42 total points.

"It's a great honor for Lindsey," noted head coach Jake McHerron. "Over the past three years she has put in the extra work needed to become a top tier player."

The Saints are coming off a season where they just missed a postseason berth finishing fifth in the MAAC with a 3-4 league mark. Siena showed signs of improvement last year and return a talented core of student-athletes who are prepared to make a surge for the program's first MAAC championship.

The Green and Gold will begin their 2008 campaign on Feb. 23 when they host C.W. Post at Siena Turf Field in a men's and women's doubleheader beginning at 11:30 a.m.
