LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Marist used a stingy defense and a balanced offensive attack to beat Siena 14-2 on Wednesday afternoon. With the conference win, Marist improved to 5-7 overall and 3-2 in MAAC play while the Saints fell to 0-11 and 0-4 in the MAAC.

Marist broke open a close game by scoring three goals in the final nine minutes of the first half and then scoring three straight times to start the second half. The Red Foxes outshot the Saints 26-16.

Maria Stehn scored four goals for the visitors while Kelly Sullivan and Brandi Petersen added three apiece. Seven different Red Foxes scored goals.

Sarah Estes (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) and Caitlin Doherty (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) scored for the Saints. Diana Bernstein (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart) had a strong game defensively with eight ground balls and two caused turnovers. Goalie Mary-Elizabeth Dupelle (Feeding Hills, Mass./Agawam) kept the Saints in the game with 12 saves.

Siena continues conference play at home against Fairfield on Sunday at noon.
