Sarah Estes Sets School Scoring Record in Narrow Loss

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Despite three goals from Sarah Estes, Siena's new all-time leading goal scorer, the Saints fell to Quinnipiac 10-8 Tuesday afternoon. With 68 career goals, Estes (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) passed Deirdre Coen '98 to become the most prolific goal scorer in Siena women's lacrosse history.

The record-breaking goal gave Siena (0-4/0-0 MAAC) a brief 7-6 lead with 22 minutes remaining in the game. The Braves (6-3) scored two quick goals to take an 8-7 lead. Freshman Karla Gudgel (Webster, N.Y.) scored her second goal of the game to tie the contest at eight with 19 minutes left.

Jesse Rowley scored the eventual game-winning goal for the visitors with just under two minutes remaining. The Braves added a goal as time expired for the final margin of victory.

Marta Waldron led the Braves with three goals and four assists while Rowley had four goals and an assist.

MAAC Rookie of the Week Caitlin Doherty (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland), Gina Purpura (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Isabel Ohanian (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker) all added goals for the Saints.

Siena finishes a four-game homestand on Thursday against Drexel. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
