Women's Golfers Third Entering Final Round of Rutgers Invitational

Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's golf team had a strong showing placing third following the First Round of the Rutgers Invitational at the Rutgers Golf Course in Piscataway, N.J. Friday. Freshman Catherine Shomo (Rutland, VT/Rutland) impressed on Friday, leading all Siena players, firing a first round score of 80 (+8).

The Saints enter Saturday's final round thirteen strokes behind Day One leader Bethune-Cookman and two shots behind the current second place finisher Yale.

Siena was carried on Friday by the great play of their freshman as in addition to Shomo's solid sixth place standing, fellow freshman Katelynn Mannix (Beekmantown, N.Y./Beekmantown) placed in a tie for ninth, shooting a first round score of 81.

Tomorrow's final round will begin with at 8:00 a.m. in Piscataway.
