Mannix, Shomo Shoot Saints to Sixth Place Finish at Princeton Invitational

Sophomore standouts Katelynn Mannix and Catherine Shomo each finished in the top-11 as the Siena women's golf team placed sixth at the Princeton Invitational which concluded this afternoon at the Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, N.J. The Saints shot a combined 638 in finishing strong in the upper half of the 16 team field. Harvard, which began the day in second place, rallied and held off first day leader and host Princeton by just two strokes. St John's placed third, while the Saints remained close, completing play just 25 strokes off the lead. Mannix had another solid and consistent showing just one week removed from her overall championship at the Dartmouth Invitational. The Plattsburgh, N.Y. native fired rounds of 76 and 78 respectively to finish tied for tenth overall. Shomo meanwhile shot a season best 74 in the opening round before completing play the second day just one stroke behind her teammate. Shomo placed in a tie for 11th. Junior captain Bridget Carr was the other Siena top finisher after rounds of 83 and 81. The Saints return to the links for their third of four fall invitationals on Oct. 10 for the Rutgers Invitational in Piscataway, N.J.
