Eight Straight!

Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's golf team won their eighth straight MAAC Championship this afternoon defeating Fairfield in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Katelynn Mannix won the individual championship for the Saints.

The Green and Gold dominated all three rounds of play over the weekend, winning each round by at least 11 strokes and claiming victory by a wide margin of 54 shots overall (942-996).

Mannix, who was awarded earlier in the day with her second straight MAAC Golfer of the Month trophy, captured the individual championship. The freshman from Plattsburgh, N.Y. shot a three round score of 235 (83-72-80).

In all the top five individual finishers adorned the Green and Gold. Fellow freshman Catherine Shomo finished second (237), Bridget Carr third (238), Bridget Erwin fourth (242) and Melissa Agostinelli fifth (243).

Courtney Richardson led the Stags finishing sixth overall with a three round score of 244.

The win marked the third MAAC Championship for a Siena athletics team during the 2007-08 academic season. The volleyball team won both the regular and postseason tournament championships last fall, while the men's basketball team did likewise this winter.
