First Round Results Get Acrobat Reader

The Siena women's golf team is off to a strong start in their spring opener as they currently stand #1 overall following first round action at the Lonnie Barton Memorial Invitation in Savannah, Ga. Senior captain Bridget Carr and sophomore Catherine Shomo each shot 79's through the first 18 holes and are tied with each other for the individual lead.

Five Saints combined to shoot a combined score of 331 on the first day to lead the field. Towson currently stands just four total strokes back with host Long Island University 12 shots off the pace in the six team field.

Carr and Shomo shot identical scores of 41 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine. Siena's Katelynn Mannix stands just one shot behind them with a first round score of 80 and is tied for third with Towson's Sarah Eichelberger and LIU's Sarah Desjardins.

Action concludes tomorrow morning in Savannah.
