Loudonville, N.Y. - Siena field hockey freshman Sarah Szewczyk was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week as announced this afternoon by conference headquarters. The West Ossipee, N.H. native accounted for the lone Siena goal in the squad's defeat over the weekend at Bucknell.

Szewczyk also earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 22 after posting her first two career goals. She has now scored a goal in three straight games and leads the team in both goals and points so far this season.

Szewczyk is the first Siena field hockey conference award winner this season with her back-to-back recognitions, and became the first Saint since teammate Kristin McGorty earned the award for the week of Oct. 2, 2006.

Szewczyk and the Saints return to action Saturday when they travel to UMass for a 12 noon meeting in Amherst, Mass.
