Final Stats

Loudonville, N.Y. - Nicole Savage tallied a hat trick as #18 UAlbany (5-2) scored all seven of their goals in a 24 minute span to knock of their cross-town rival Siena (0-4) this evening at Alumni Turf Field in Albany.

The teams battled through a scoreless game for most of the first half until Savage put the Great Danes up for good at the 27:40 mark. On a scramble in front of the cage, Savage would secure possession and put a shot past Saints goalie Renee Clavette (Danville, N.H./Timberland). Just one minute later, Albany's Alysia Hough would deflect a shot in front of the cage by Clavette giving the Great Danes a 2-0 advantage heading into the half.

In the second half, UAlbany would add a third tally just 50 seconds into the action, sparking their offense which would end up scoring five times in the first sixteen minutes of the second frame.

Despite holding a 33-2 advantage in shots, the combination of Clavette and junior goalie Jennifer Tesak (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) was able to stifle a potent Great Danes attack.

Over the final fifteen minutes of the game the Saints would control the offensive play on the U Albany side of the field, but were unable to put one past goaltender Christine Hoffman who notched her first career shutout.

The Saints will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host UMASS for the first of five home games this season on the brand new Siena Turf Field. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
