Bill Davidson begins his second year at the helm of the Siena field hockey program after taking a three-year hiatus from coaching at the collegiate level. Davidson sports a career record of 54-112 over a nine year span as the head coach at both Providence College (1998-2001) and SUNY-New Paltz (2002-05). Davidson matriculated to Loudonville after serving as the founder, director and head coach of the East/West field hockey camps for both California and the eastern states of America. Davidson's responsibilities ranged from managing all financial and administrative operations of the complex, marketing camp programs to coaches, parents and players, hiring and evaluating coaching and camp staff and developing daily instruction and lesson plans. Outside of his responsibilities with the East/West field hockey camps, Davidson most recently served as the head field hockey coach at SUNY-New Paltz within the NCAA Division III ranks from 2002-2005. During his three-year stay in New Paltz, Davidson was responsible for all facets of the field hockey program. In 2004, Davidson coached the Hawks to an 8-11 regular season record, including a 3-2 mark in the SUNYAC Conference. That same year, Davidson oversaw a team that earned a berth to the SUNYAC Championship, where they fell to Cortland State, 1-0, in the championship game. Prior to his stint at New Paltz, Davidson garnered Division I experience serving as head field hockey coach at Providence College from 1998-2001. While there, Davidson was responsible for scouting and recruiting athletes, practice and game preparation, monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes and game scheduling. The Friars saw much success under Davidson's guidance. In 1998, the Friars were semifinalists in the BIG EAST tournament. Two years later in 2000, the Friars earned a trip to the BIG EAST Finals. A year later, Davidson coached the Friars to the semifinals of the ECAC Tournament. Davidson earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1988 and received his teaching license in physical education from California State Polytechnic University, including health education from the University of California - Santa Barbara.
