NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Siena men's basketball team was selected to repeat as conference champions, while the women's team was picked seventh in the MAAC Preseason Poll released this afternoon at MAAC Media Day at the ESPN Zone in New York City. Senior guard Kenny Hasbrouck was named MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, headlining three Saints' to be named to the First Team.

The men's basketball team was a unanimous selection atop the poll, earning all 10 first place votes from the conference's coaches for a total of 100 points. Fairfield (85) was chosen second, while defending co-Regular-Season Champion Rider (74) was tabbed third.

Hasbrouck, who was the 2008 Citizens Bank MAAC Championship MVP, joined teammates Edwin Ubiles and Alex Franklin as All-MAAC First Team Selections. Rounding out the first team was Fairfield guard Jonathan Han and Rider forward Ryan Thompson.

The women's basketball team earned 52 total points in the poll for their seventh place standing. Defending MAAC Champion Marist (100) was a unanimous selection to repeat as conference champions. Fairfield (82), Canisius (75), Saint Peter's (63) and Loyola (56) rounded out the top-5.

Senior forward Heather Stec was the lone active Saint named to a Preseason Team, garnering Third Team accolades. Suspended guard Shondaya Burrell earned a spot on the First Team. Marist's Rachele Fitz, the defending MAAC Player of the Year, was chosen once more to repeat as the league's top player.
