Siena Releases 2007-08 Women's Basketball Schedule
Sept. 21, 2007 LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena College athletic department released its 2007-08 women's basketball schedule this afternoon after receiving its league schedule from conference headquarters. Key non-conference contests with Colorado, Syracuse and Rhode Island are among the highlights of the lineup. The Saints will play a 28-game schedule, which includes 12 home contests. Three of which will be played at the Times Union Center. Siena is prepared for its home opener on Saturday, November 10 when the Saints welcome Boston University to Loudonville. The team then begins a six game road series on November 13 at Harvard. Siena is also set to make stops at Rhode Island (Nov. 16) and Long Island University (Nov. 19) before departing for Boulder, Colo. to participate in the 21st Annual Coors Classic (Nov. 23-24). The Saints will face host school Colorado (Nov. 23) in the opening round of the Coors Classic marking a rematch of their 2001 NCAA Tournament First Round meeting. Clemson and Rice round out the four team field. After a stop at Drexel (Nov. 28), Siena returns home for its annual Albany Cup matchup with cross-town rival UAlbany (Dec.1) at the Times Union Center. The conference schedule opens up in mid-December with consecutive league games against Manhattan (Dec. 7) and Iona (Dec. 9). Siena rounds out its non-conference home schedule on Dec. 20 when they welcome Oakland University (MI) to the Alumni Recreation Center for their inaugural meeting. The Saints will then return to the Carrier Dome for the first time since 2002 to face Syracuse on December 28. Siena opens its league schedule in 2008 playing host to Canisius (Jan. 6) in Albany. On January 21, the Saints will open a double-header with the Siena men at the Times Union Center for an always thrilling contest against conference rival Niagara. Siena gets a three game home stretch in February when they welcome Loyola (Feb. 18) and Iona (Feb. 22) back to the ARC. The Saints will complete this series as they celebrate senior day on February 24 for their final home contest with Fairfield. The regular-season concludes with a televised game at Rider (Feb. 29) on ESPNU.
