Menty Tabbed MAAC Player of the Week

Feb. 18, 2008

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena women's basketball senior tri-captain Laura Menty was named MAAC Player of the Week this afternoon by league officials. Menty set a career-high scoring 31 points in the Saints 60-57 loss at Fairfield on Saturday.

The native of Wilbraham, Mass. shot an unbelievable 10-for-12 (83%) from the floor and converted 11 of her 12 (92%) free throw attempts. The senior forward also tallied five rebounds, two blocks and a steal in 38 minutes of action. The 31 points scored by Menty was the sixth highest total in Arena at Harbor Yard history.

Menty currently leads the MAAC averaging 19.3 points per game. She is also just 14 points shy of passing Liz Lops '94 for fourth on Siena's all-time scoring list. She'll have a chance to pass Lops tonight when the Saints host Loyola (Md.) for a 7 o'clock tip at the Alumni Recreation Center.
