Andrea Woodbury Position: Associate Head Coach Experience: 18th Season Alma Mater: Ithaca College, '78

Entering her 18th season, fourth as associate head coach, Andrea Woodbury brings a wealth of experience to the Saints' coaching staff. Head coach Gina Castelli made Woodbury her first appointment upon taking over in 1990. Since that point, Woodbury has been instrumental in Siena's development as a perennial powerhouse in the MAAC.

During her tenure, Woodbury has helped guide the Saints to seven 20-win seasons. Under Woodbury's direction, the Saints have captured seven MAAC regular-season titles. Siena stands 278-209 overall and 181-100 in conference play under Woodbury's leadership. In this time, the Saints earned their first NCAA tournament berth (2001) and made three WNIT appearances (1999, 2002, 2003).

Woodbury brings enthusiasm and an exceptional work ethic to the program. Woodbury's outstanding recruiting and player development skills have put the Saints on the national map. In 17 seasons, Woodbury has helped develop a talent pool of players who have made their way through the program.

She has aided in the maturation of a number of All-League performers. Most recently, First Team All-MAAC performer and 2005 MAAC Rookie of the Year, Laura Menty. Woodbury was also instrumental in the development of two-time Kodak District 2 All-American, Gunta Basko. Basko remains just the third player to be named MAAC Player of the Year twice. She joins the likes of fellow two-time winners Melanie Halker and Liz Lops as players who fine-tuned their skills under the direct instruction of Woodbury. Woodbury also held an active role in developing Liene Jansone into the 2003 MAAC Player of the Year (MAAC Sixth Player of the Year in 2002).

Woodbury is an influential and inspiring leader on the coaching staff. She harbors a great interest in reaching out to the community through participation in various service activities throughout the season. Woodbury was a founder of Siena's "Lil' Saints" youth group. The "Lil' Saints" program reaches out to children in the local community, welcoming them as active members in the Siena athletics family.

Prior to arriving in Loudonville, Woodbury served as assistant coach for two seasons (1988-90) at New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University). She helped guide the 1989-90 squad to the New England Collegiate Conference championship and an NCAA Regional appearance.

Before her two-year stint at New Hampshire College, Woodbury served as head women's basketball coach and assistant athletic director for intramurals at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, Mass. from 1984-88. During her term at North Essex, the team compiled a 72-40 record, including a 22-6 mark during the 1985-86 season.

In the 1985-86 campaign, Northern Essex was the Massachusetts Community College Athletic Conference and Greater Boston Small College Conference champion. The team culminated the season by winning the Greater Boston Small College Tournament championship. Woodbury's squad went on to play in the NJCAA Tournament.

A 1978 graduate of Ithaca College in Upstate New York, Woodbury was a letterwinner in basketball, field hockey and softball. She received her master's degree in business administration from New Hampshire College in 1990.
