Final Stats

Jeremy Deuel and Jose Loren each took their matches three sets before dropping heartbreaking decisions symbolic of the Siena men's tennis team's 7-0 setback in its MAAC opener against Marist Tuesday in Loudonville. Siena battled gamely in all six singles matches after dropping the doubles point, but fell short.

"I was pleased with our team's effort today," head coach Jim Serbalik said. "I though we showed a lot of heart and really pressed them across the board. This is a performance we can build upon."

Marist won the doubles point be sweeping the three doubles matches 8-2. Deuel lost a tie-breaker in the first set of his match with Marist ace Christian Coley, before bouncing back for an easy 6-1 win in the second set. Cooley won the super tie-breaker in the third set 10-6.

Antonio Oliver topped Jose Loren at #6 singles after Loren took the first set 6-3. Nick Rutherford also fought hard at #2 singles, before losing 7-5 and 6-0.

The Saints return to action Saturday at NJIT in a non-conference match.
