Men's Tennis Stumbles in MAAC Opener at Marist

Final Stats

Marist won all six singles matches and two of three doubles contests to post a decisive 7-0 win over rival Siena Wednesday in Poughkeepsie. Siena's top doubles tandem of seniors Jeremy Deuel and Nick Rutherford claimed victory for the Saints.

Loic Sessagesimi earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Deuel at first singles. Nicolas Pisecky won 6-2, 6-4 over Rutherford in the number two spot. At third singles, Landon Greene prevailed 6-0, 6-3 over freshman Jeremy Siwiec. Matt Himmelsbach posted a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Jay Godbole at fourth singles. Rhys Hobbs won 6-0, 6-4 in his fifth singles match with Kevin Gioia and Jordan Keen won the longest match of the afternoon, a 6-7 (5), 6-3, 10-8 victory over Siena's Stefan Putyera.

Deuel and Rutherford won first doubles 9-7 over Sessagesimi and Himmelsbach, but the Red Foxes won the second and third doubles matches to earn the sole doubles point. Pisecky and Greene won 8-1 in the number two spot, while Hobbs and Keen also won 8-1 at third doubles.
