Final Stats

The Quinnipiac University men's tennis team defeated Siena, 7-0, in Hamden, Conn. Wednesday. The match was the first of the season for both schools and was contested on Quinnipiac's brand-new US Open Blue Courts.

John Hughes and Charlie Feldman won the first doubles match of the day, 8-6 over Jerermy Deuel and Nick Rutherford of Siena. Sean Pease and Brian Mikkelson swept Stefan Putyera and Jay Godbole, 8-0, before Scott Salway and Tom Curran swept Kevin Gioia and Jay Godbole.

Pease then defeated Putyera, 6-2 and 6-0, for the first singles victory to put Quinnipiac up, 2-0, for the match. Folllowing Curran's 6-2, 6-0 win over Jose Loren to put Quinnipiac on top, 3-0, Hughes would clinch the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Deuel. Feldman defeated Godbole, 6-3, 6-2, and Mikkelson knocked off Rutherford, 6-4, 6-2. Salway would loss the first set to Gioia, 5-7, before bouncing back to win the final two sets, 6-3 and 10-6.

The Siena men's tennis team returns to action next Tuesday in tehir home opener against sacred Heart at 3:30 p.m.
