Men's Soccer Goalie Patrick Henry Named to All-Region Team
Dec. 12, 2005 LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - It has been nearly a decade since head coach Charlie Curto's men's soccer team had a player selected to the New York All-Region Team, but today the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced its selections and Siena's Patrick Henry (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) was named to the Third Team. "This is a fantastic honor that Pat (Henry) earned with all his hard work this season, it couldn't have gone to a more deserving candidate," explained Curto. "To achieve this kind of feat in the toughest position on the field is a shear testament to his work ethic. He is a coach's dream and a great captain for this team." The junior is the ninth Saints' player to be recognized with an All-Region selection and it is the first selection since 1998 when goalie Eric Lind garnered the nod. Eight regions combine to form the Division I soccer pool from which All-America candidates will be selected. The eight regions include: Far West, Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, New England, New York, South and South Atlantic. "There are a lot of great teams in New York, some that are ranked, and to be chosen to an All-Region Team is a great honor," said Henry. "I came to Siena with a goal of making an impact. In my time, I have played with a lot of great players who have deserved praise in their own right; I share this award with them and all of my teammates."
