Siena Men's Soccer Garners Seven Postseason Awards

Nov. 10, 2005

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Seven Siena men's soccer players were recognized by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference as postseason awards were made official tonight for the 2005 season. The postseason awards are voted on by the league's head coaches and All MAAC Academic team selections require student athletes' cumulative grade point average to be 3.20 or higher with at least two semesters completed.

Forward Mike DeSimone was named to the All MAAC Rookie Team. The Clifton Park, N.Y., native made the most of his first goal in the Green and Gold. His first career score against Loyola proved to be the game winner and on the season he tallied six points. When DeSimone had at least a point in a game, the Saints were 2-1.

The MAAC also announced the All Academic team which consisted of 48 student athletes from the 10 league schools. Siena was represented by six men's soccer players this season. The Saints contingent consisted of seniors Chris Crescitelli (Merrick, N.Y.), T.J. Helly (Carmel, N.Y.), Sean Kelly (Red Hook, N.Y.) with junior Patrick Henry (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) and sophomores Kevin Bendl (Manhasset Hills, N.Y.) and Kyle Christiansen (Troy, N.Y.).
