Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena men's soccer team dropped its conference opener this afternoon falling to Loyola (8-2-0, 1-0-0) 2-0 on Siena Field. The Greyhounds posted two second half goals courtesy of Jamie Darvill and Eddie Dines sending the team past Siena (3-5-2, 0-1-0). The teams battled through the first half of what proved to be a defensive stalemate. Both squads placed just two shots on goal in the first 45 minutes of action entering the half stuck at a scoreless tie. In the 51st minute, Darvill notched what proved to be the game winning goal when fellow forward Phil Bannister served a feed to him in the middle of the box and sent a rocket past Saints goalkeeper Steve Skonieczny. Skonieczny accumulated four saves on the afternoon. Less than two minutes later, Dines placed a header in the back of the net to give Loyola a 2-0 advantage. The score marked Dines fourth of the season. Siena nearly got on the scoreboard in the 79th minute when Ross Cardinell placed a free kick from the top of the box just high of the crossbar.
