Skonieczny Secures MAAC `Defensive Player of the Week' Honors

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena men's soccer goalkeeper Steve Skonieczny was named MAAC `Defensive Player of the Week' announced this afternoon at league headquarters. This marks the second consecutive week Skonieczny was praised by the conference for solid play between the pipes.

Skoneiczny delivered back-to-back shutout performances against non-conference rivals Massachusetts and St. Francis (N.Y.) earning his first two victories of his collegiate career. On the week, he accumulated five saves over 183:45 minutes of action in net.

Currently, Skoneiczny ranks second in the conference harboring a 0.74 goals against average and a .826 save percentage.

Skonieczny, a three year letterwinner at Arlington High School, was an All-League and All-Section honoree in his final two seasons. As a senior, he helped lead Arlington to the New York State Class AA championship.
