LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.-- Marist College junior Joseph Crespo (Bolton, Conn./Bolton) scored the eventual game-winner on a breakaway goal just 14 minutes and 36 seconds into the game as the Red Foxes (9-8/5-3 MAAC) defeated the Siena College Saints (6-10-1/4-4 MAAC) 2-0 in an elimination game played at Siena Field Wednesday afternoon.

Each team knew going into the contest that a victory would clinch the final spot in the upcoming MAAC Tournament. The Saints struggled on offense, as Marist junior Carlos DeBrito stopped just three Siena shots en route to the shutout.

Brian Karcz (S. Hunnington, N.Y./Walt Whitman) followed Crespo's first-half score with an insurance goal at the 60:04 mark of the second-half. Karcz headed in a Christopher Zitkevitz corner kick for the tally, which ended any aspirations of postseason play for the Green and Gold.

Junior Kevin Purcell (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) and freshman John Dalmatta (Gloversville, N.Y./Gloversville) notched two shots a piece in the loss for Siena and keeper Andrew Sether (Garden City, N.Y./Valley Stream South) saved three Marist shots in the final home game of his career.

The Saints return to action for the final time this season as they travel to Iona on Sunday, October 29 for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with the Gaels.
