Siena Defeathers Peacocks 3-0
Oct. 1, 2000 LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena's men's soccer team (4-6-1, 2-1 MAAC) dominated play from the opening whistle, shutting out conference rival St. Peter's (0-9, 0-2 MAAC) 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Saints Field. St. Peter's helped out the Saints, scoring on their own goal nine minutes into the game. Freshman Vinny Russo (Staten Island, NY/Marymount International) received credit for the goal. Siena turned up the pressure in the second half, firing 15 shots to St. Peter's seven and the Saints broke through with a goal on a penalty kick in the 51st minute. Junior Patrick Wren (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) tucked the ball away in the left corner to extend the lead to 2-0. Freshman John Dalmata (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) closed the scoring in the 76th minute. Goaltender Andrew Sether (Garden City, NY/Valley Stream South) made five saves in the shutout victory.
The Saints hit the road to take on Loyola Saturday afternoon in Baltimore.
