LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- The Siena College men's soccer (2-4-1) lost to the University of Massachusetts (3-3-0) Sunday afternoon, 2-1, at Siena Field.

Derek Rhodes and Devlin Barnes tallied second half scores for the Minutemen, who were out-shot 9-6 on the afternoon.

Rhodes broke the ice after a scoreless first half scoring 47:51 into the game on a crossing pass from teammate Yuri Morales.

Twelve minutes later (59:48), Barnes gave the Minutemen what appeared to be an insurmountable 2-0 lead.

At the 81:30 mark of the game, the Saints finally broke through as junior Patrick Wren (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) headed in a throw-in from freshman Jeff Lewis (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) to cut the lead to 2-1. That would be as close as the Saints would get.

Siena controlled the ball for the majority of the game, but continued their year-long struggle to get the ball in the back of the net.

The Saints return to action on Tuesday afternoon at Fairfield, when MAAC play.
