The Siena College men's soccer tied with the University at Buffalo 1-1 today in a contest at Siena Field. In the first half, both teams had several scoring opportunities, but Buffalo'sTom Songer (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) managed to squeeze a goal past Siena keeper Jon Hicks (Merrick, NY/Chaminade) at 40:32 in the half for the only score.

Siena controlled the ball for the majority of the second half and eventually scored off of a direct kick by Ryan Slater (Fairport, NY/Fairport) at 82:10 in regulation time. Siena out-shot Buffalo in the second half 11 to four, but managed just the single score.

The game was very hard fought, and neither team could break through after Slater's tying goal. At the end of regulation, the score remained deadlocked at 1-1.

The overtimes, like regulation, were physical and void of scoring chances. The Bulls out-shot Siena 1-0 in the first 15 minutes, and the Saints tallied the only shot in the final overtime session. The tie placed the Saints at 2-3-1 (0-0-0 MAAC), while Buffalo is now at 2-2-1 (0-0 Mid-Atlantic Conference). The Saints will next play at home against Umass (Amherst) on September 17, at 1:00 p.m.
