NEW BRITAIN, CONN. - The Siena men's soccer team (2-4-0, 0-0-0 MAAC) defeated the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils (0-4-1) 5-0 today.

Sophomore Paul Ciovacco (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) led all scorers with one goal and three assists. After a scoreless first half, Siena got on the board at 48:11 on a goal by from freshman John Witkiewicz (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Regis) from Ciovacco. Just over ten minutes later Ciovacco set up junior Vinnie Rinella (Waterford, N.Y./Shenendehowah) to put the Saints up 2-0.

Senior Bill Rohrbach (West Hempstead, N.Y./West Hempstead) extended Siena's lead to 3-0 at 76:47 on an assist by freshman Jeff Lewis (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia Glenville). Ciovacco added his third assist on an goal by freshman Vinny Russo (Staten Island, N.Y./Marymount Int'l) at 81:25. Ciovacco later added a goal with just over a minute remaining in the game.

Siena goalie Jonathan Hicks (Merrick, N.Y./Chaminade) made eight saves in the win while facing 13 shots by the Blue Devils.

The Saints will next be in action at home against the University of Buffalo on Friday, September 15 at 4:00 p.m.
